What Cities Have Opted in for Adult-Use Cannabis?

Many cities have chosen their stance on whether or not they will have cannabis business licenses in their territory. Illinois Bill 1438 will allow recreational use of cannabis in the state of Illinois, but has an opt-out provision for cities that wish to not participate in allowing cannabis business licenses. IL Senate OKs Bill To Let Cannabis Companies Use Banking System

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A bill by State Senator Toi Hutchinson (D-Chicago Heights) that permits legal cannabis businesses to use the banking system is headed toward the house after passing through the senate with no opposition. Businesses that distribute medical marijuana are cash-only, which makes the industry vulnerable to fraud and criminal, Hutchinson claims. Illinois approves 26 businesses to offer safety training to marijuana sellers

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) — Illinois has approved 26 businesses to provide mandatory health and safety training to operators of marijuana dispensaries in the state. The Department of Financial and Professional Regulation released a list of “responsible vendors” on Tuesday to help cannabis sellers meet their training requirement. All marijuana dispensary operators must be trained on properly dispensing cannabis, checking buyers’ identification and other health and safety concerns.
